Fundamentals of Healing and Community Leadership Training 2024

This training is open to queer and trans survivors of violence. The 40-Hour Fundamentals of Healing and Community Leadership Training focuses on building a solid foundation in CUAV’s vision of collective healing and transformation by developing individual and community capacity to increase safety in our queer and trans communities. CUAV uses peer advocacy counseling and organizing approaches to build leadership and transform cycles of violence into cycles of safety and healing. 


Our frameworks include: self-determination, language justice, popular education, understanding violence, anti-oppression, anti-criminalization, abolition, transformative justice, harm reduction, healing justice and people power, trauma stewardship.


Our practices include: active listening, setting boundaries, creating options, making requests, and self-love.


Our tools include: peer advocacy based counseling, assessment (assessing patterns of coercive control in LGBTQI2S abusive relationships), key principles to supporting survivors self-determination, safety planning, and organizing 101


Logistics: This training will be in-person at 427 South Van Ness, San Francisco. Lunch will be provided.
